Monday April 16, 2012

The April meeting of The Fostoria Coin Club was called to order at 7:30 pm by Vice President Harry Colvin in the absence of President Gary Moran. Harry welcomed 24 members and two guests. Bob Fritsch of Nashua NH decided to use Fostoria as a stopover on his trip to the Central States show to be held this weekend. He saw our club website and decided to visit our meeting. He was looking for ideas to attract new membership. Ed Lause from Bloomdale was also a visitor and is interested in FCC membership.

The Secretary’s Report was read by Phil Warrington and approved with one correction. Treasurer Brandeberry noted that he previously reported the $700 paid to Stacy’s Place for hall rental was an increase of $100.00 and it should have been reported as a decrease of $100.00 from the previous year’s rental. Treasurer’s report was read by Chuck Brandeberry and was approved as read.

OLD BUSINESS

The March 25th Spring Coin Show was a success. Chairman Otto Blackburn thanked all who helped with the show in any way with special thanks to Eric Beidelschies heading up registration, Randy Burk and Rich McClellan as top Raffle ticket sellers and Harry Colvin for procuring two Boy Scouts to help Gary Phelps run electric cords. Chuck Brandeberry gave a glowing financial report with the club making $1462.41 profit; by far our best show ever! Great Job FCC Members!

NEW BUSINESS

1. The Secretary reported that we have 55 active members for this year. 27 are receiving newsletters via email and 28 by USPS. Six members have not paid dues for 2012 and are now Inactive.

2. First readings for new membership were given for Joey England of Findlay as junior member and Ed Lause Bloomdale as adult member.

3. Several members brought items in to share. Phil Warrington showed proof sets dated 1941, 1942 & 1954. Bill Geckle shared foreign currency made of plastic. Denny Hall had a love token made from a Seated Liberty Quarter and Stan Sayre had 10,000 Mark Notes from Weimar Republic.

4. A question was presented regarding current Pre-Listed Auction. The member was requesting to bring in lots on meeting night. It was explained that this was the practice about 14 years ago and that the current

system was developed to avoid all the confusion and uncertainty experienced in the past. Also this format is when the club news letter was developed.

5. Scott Hopkins reported that Barbara Marley legal agent for FCC has died this week. She did the paperwork to enable the club to maintain “Non Profit” status. Phil Warrington will contact her office at a later date for future guidance in this matter.

6. Chuck Brandeberry announced that he is “Resigning as FCC Treasurer” effective immediately at the end of tonight’s meeting. He indicated that he does not enjoy the financial responsibility of the position. Otto Blackburn has volunteered to fulfill Chuck’s term as Treasurer and Chuck will assume responsibilities as Show Chairman for next year’s Coin Show. VP Colvin asked if there were any other nominations to fill the Treasurer’s vacancy. There were none so Otto Blackburn was elected by “Unanimous Ballot”

Meeting was adjourned by a motion from Bruce Hanny with a 2nd by Stan Sayre. Door prizes, a 1968 proof set was won by Bruce Hanny and 1970 proof set by Phil Warrington. Denny Hall conducted a 25 lot auction.

Respectfully submitted, Phil Warrington FCC Secretary.
